The museum in Svilengrad was established in 2007 on the basis of the museum collection in the town from the 1960s. The museum takes care of preserving and guarding the immaterial and material immovable and movable cultural heritage of the population along the lower reaches of the Maritsa, Eastern Rhodopes and Sakar Mountains.
The museum has three exhibitions: history, archeology and ethnography, in which objects of important historical, cultural and scientific significance, such as papers, photographs, manuscripts, orders, medals, tools, clothing and objects from the town life, silk, cotton and wool production, cool and firearms, personal belongings and more. Part of the Museum is also the Town Art Gallery. The result of the team's research is a series of books devoted to the history and culture of the town.
