Since 1962 the museum has preserved the historical heritage of the town and the region, divided into four sections - Archaeology, Ethnography, Revival and New history. The emphasis in the exhibition is on the participation of Gorna Oryahovitsa in the April Uprising in 1876 as the capital of the First Revolutionary District. Also, the Historical Museum organizes a series of thematic exhibitions annually, which presents in an attractive way the forgotten and lesser known exhibits and facts of the history and the prize. In 2007, the series "The Vices of People of the Gorna Oryahovitsa" was realized, in 2008 "The Habits of the People of Gorna Oryahovitsa", and in 2009 "Traditional crafts of the People of Gorna Oryahovitsa". The museum also often presents its own collections of postcards, clocks, calendars, radios, fairs and railway accessories.
