The only profiled archaeological museum in the Pazardzhik province was established in 1995 in the town of Septemvri. It is the successor of the local community collections. The main collection of the Museum is a product of prolonged archaeological excavations in the area of Hadjiyska Vodenitsa, resulting in the discovery of the ancient site of the Emporion Pistiros. Since 2005, the museum has been housed in a new building that was built specifically for its needs. In 2014 the new permanent exhibition "Emporion Pistiros" was opened. The museum develops active research and publishing activities.
