The National Agricultural Museum in Sofia was established in 1956. It is part of the Agricultural Academy. Its main activities are to search, collect, preserve and expose the monuments of material and spiritual culture of the Bulgarian people, reflecting the agricultural tradition of the Bulgarian lands from Antiquity to the present day. The museum prepares and presents in our country and abroad temporary exhibitions of different themes. It has a library of specialized literature. On more than 1000 square meters are located several permanent thematic expositions - sheep breeding, horse breeding, plant breeding, beekeeping, veterinary medicine. The museum is a member of the International Association of Agricultural Museums (AIMA). The museum is among the less known sites of our cultural heritage in Sofia and is therefore subject to more popularization - especially among the younger generation.
