The museum is located in the oldest railway station in Bulgaria - Rousse. It is under the Ministry of Transport department. It presents mainly the history of the Bulgarian state railways. It is located in the "Youth Park" near the Danube River.
The reconstructed station offers 3 museum expositions to visit:
"The Old Train Station" - presents main moments from the development of railway transport in Bulgaria and the connection of the railway with the passenger shipping on the Danube
"Park-museum" - presents train sets from the middle of the 19th and the middle of the 20th century, freight and specialized wagons.
"Wagon-salons" unique - for higher trips of I and II government train. Among the crowned individuals, that had the privilege of traveling with them - Sultan Abdul Aziz, Empress Evgenia, Princess Klimentina, Prince Alexander Batenberg, Prince / Tsar Ferdinand I, Tsar Boris III and others.
The Museum of Transport in Rousse was officially opened in 1966 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction of the first railway line in Bulgaria, connecting the cities of Rousse and Varna. Its exhibition presents the development of the technical culture in the field of railway transport, shipping and communications.
The indoor exhibition presents models of locomotives, wagons and ships, original communication equipment such as Morse telegraph, postal stamps, seals, parcel boxes and others. The museum has an outdoor exhibition of locomotives and wagons.
