The historical museum in Chiprovtsi was founded in 1988 and in direct connection with the national celebration of the 300th anniversary of the outbreak of the Chiprovtsi Uprising. The exhibition area in the main building starts with archaeological finds dating from a long chronological period from the Bronze Age to the Late Middle Ages. In the five exhibition hall are presented events and processes, highlighting Chiprovtsi in the whole Bulgarian and world historical space. The first hall is devoted to mining; Separate stages of mining and ore processing are presented, with an emphasis on the new technologies brought by Saxon Miners. In the second hall, the works of the Chiprovtsi goldsmith school (XVI - XVII century) and their distribution on a European scale are shown. The third hall presents the place and role of Catholicism in the life of Chiprovci in the seventeenth century - educational activity, diplomatic and missionary activity of the local higher Catholic clergy, the outbreak and course of the Chiprovtsi Uprising and the subsequent migratory movements in today's Romanian and Croatian lands. In the fourth hall the main periods in the development of the Chiprovtsi carpet were traced. And in the heel is exposed church painting. In the Katerinina House there is an exhibition presenting the life and customs of the Torlacs, and a "live collection of dyestuffs" is planted in the yard.
